ANOTHER BY-ELECTION


Bagan Pinang, Negeri Sembilan assemblyman Azman Mohammad Noor died at the Seremban Specialist Centre at 2.30pm due to blood septicimea. He was 55.

In the 2008 general election, Azman won the Bagan Pinang seat by a majority of 2,333 votes. Hegarnered 6,430 votes against Ramli Ismail of PAS, who had 4,097 votes. Bagan Pinang, located in the Teluk Kemang parliamentary seat in Port Dickson is a Malay-Muslim majority, make up 66%, while Chinese, 10.5%, and Indian, 19.9%.

A by-election will see a UMNO vs PAS rematch. It will be an opportunity for PAS and the opposition coalition to test their reform message.
